I work mostly with first year writing students in WRA 101, so I’ve become pretty familiar with their information needs. I created these two videos to help students learn library mechanics, so that I can spend more face to face class time discussing larger information literacy concepts.
Some first year students have trouble connecting general tutorials to their specific research tasks. The videos connect directly to the Cultural Artifact and Disciplinary Literacies assignments, increasing salience and immediacy.
