Many first year students are unfamiliar with the distinction between popular, scholarly, and trade articles. This video provides an overview of the purpose of each type of writing, as well as some distinguishing features.
I revise this video about once every two years to keep the examples and graphics fresh, and as I learn new ways to talk about these types of information with students.
This video is used most frequently in WRA 101 classes, though may be of broad interest to undergraduate students who are learning to navigate the information landscape of their major.
